Mixed Media Demonstration - May 24, 2008 - Part 2

In Part 1 of Judy Shea's demo she worked with different Golden gel mediums and stamps and stencils. She also demonstrated how she uses beeswax to imbed and attach small objects to a canvas and how to create a stamp using a piece of foam, cut from an inexpensive smooth kneeling pad.

Working With Beeswax in Mixed Media Art

1. Various papers are "glued" to the canvas board with beeswax that was melted in mini crock pot.
Beeswax is brushed on top of the paper also.

2. A mini iron is used to spread out the wax evenly.

3. Melted beeswax is used to adhere 3-D objects.

4. Sample canvas board of beeswax technique.

Creating a Stamp From a Foam Kneeling Pad

5. A foam garden kneeling pad is heated with a heat gun for about 20-30 seconds and then immediately pressed with a textured object.
Caution! Be very careful when heating foam to avoid injuries.

6. The resulting stamp. The foam can be reheated to smooth and impress again.

Some Examples of Judy's Mixed Media Art

7.Another sample board of mixed media textures.

8.This canvas was spread with Golden light molding paste and painted with fluid acrylics.
Glitter was used to further embellish.
